Hierarchy: client, account, operation, device
Everything in INSSACS hangs off a four-level hierarchy. Understanding it explains almost every "outside your scope" message and every mysteriously empty dropdown.
What each level is

What each level inherits
- The account sets the currency for everything below it. Products, devices, profiles and balances use it, and it never changes.
- Business lines (vending, EAS) are enabled on the account; an operation may only enable lines its account has.
- A device belongs to an operation, and through it to an account and a client.
- Products and users belong to the account. Profiles may be account- or operation-level. So may codes: account-level (valid across every operation) or operation-level.
Practical consequences
- Selectors cascade: pick the account and only then do operations, devices, products and compatible profiles fill in. An empty selector usually means the level above is unset, or that level has nothing for that business line.
- Moving a device to another account empties its planogram (structure kept, products and prices removed) and adjusts its currency. See Devices.
- Deleting cascades downwards: deleting an account deletes its operations, devices, profiles, products, users and scoped operators. Historical movements are kept.
- Nobody deletes their own level: if your scope is an account, you cannot deactivate or delete that account (you would delete yourself). The app hides the button and the server rejects it.
Your scope
Your operator lives at one of those levels: global, client, account or operation. You only see and touch your level and below. See Permissions and scope.
